About Jane

Jane Mackarness – Yoga Nidra and Trauma Informed Yoga teacher training plus Yoga Nidra for all.

Jane has been studying and practicing yoga for 48 years, teaching since 1979, and training teachers since 1997. Based in Totnes, she offers classes, teacher training workshops and courses in the UK and abroad, and is the author of the Yoga Nidra teacher training coursesoffered here.
She was introduced to yoga at the age of 13, when her mother Ruth attended classes with B K S Iyengar in London in 1966. Ruth loved his classes and Iyengar gave her his book, the classic Light on Yoga. When Ruth died in 1967, Jane inherited this gift and comforted herself by practicing yoga.
Jane studied integral yoga for 4 years with the late Kevin Kingsland, the BWY Dip with Jenni Adams, frequently studies and refers to texts from the great classical teachers, and attends workshops/retreats when possible.
An E-RYT with the US Yoga Alliance, qualified to conduct teacher training, yoga CPD courses, and a Yoga Elder (Yoga Teachers Together) with thousands of hours teaching and training experience.
Jane offers Yoga Nidra and Trauma Informed Yoga teacher training. Since her beloved son Guy died in 2013, her Yoga and Yoga Nidra practice provide strength and peace, more than ever before.
Qualified as a classical homeopath, completing training with Misha Norland in 1987, Jane practiced for many years, and continues to treat a few patients, but her first love  and main focus is yoga.
Yoga is 100% reliable; practiced often with attention to the breath,  spine, and alignment, it always inspires and moves us into a better place, creating  light and space in our bodies. Then we find the space between the breaths and  the thoughts, where peace and spontaneous joy live.

"The purpose of life is not only to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honourable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived, and lived well."

Ralph Waldo Emerson
